Watendlath Trout Fishery 11/09/06

A Picuris trout fishery in Keswick in the hillside, Stunning views with hard fighting Rainbow, Price from £17 for four fish.
On the day catching flies were Daddy long legs and Peacock Spider, my compatriots on the day also had luck with Damsels and various black flies fished on a floating line. Well worth a visit if only for the views alone.

Loch Ard 17/08/06 Pictures
A beautiful day at Loch Ard early morning with no ripple on the water with flat mill pond conditions with areas bubbling up.
Conditions turned better round about mid day with Perch being the first to fall to the fly. A total of twenty perch were taken some good sport but not what we were looking for, Auld Jimmy got the first Brown of the day, with a gold head Ace of spades.
In the afternoon a pike fell to the fly and the second Brown fell to a PTN. A mixed bag was taken on the day. 20 Perch, 2 Brown, 1 Pike.
Well worth another visit if only for the fantastic views and a chance to hook in to the elusive browns in better fishing conditions. Best fishing times, early or late season.
Loch Lubhair 13/07/06 Pictures

A visit to Loch Lubhair produced three Brown trout.
Conditions were perfect with overcast and a slight wind; the three fish fell to Greenwell’s spider size 12, Zulu size 14 and Kate McLaren size12.
Only draw back to the 4 hour shift was, I left my glasses and net in the house and my waders have sprung a leek, not the ones used for making soup. Fish were all caught around 9.30 p.m. when the water went mental with fish jumping all over the loch. Looked like a blank was on the cards until I hooked into a 5 inch Brownie or is that minnow. Things improved with a couple of good fighting fish then it was midgie time.
